What is Markdown?

  • administrators

Markdown allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, then convert it to HTML to post online. Because Markdown text files are simply plain-text, you can use almost any text editor to open them.

Focused makes things even better, by showing you formatting as you write in a beautiful layout that’s easy to read and edit.

Formatting is easy: to bolden text, surround text with two asterisks:

    **this text is bold**

    For italics, use “underscore”:

    _this is italics_

Create a list by starting new lines with a dash:

    - Item 1

    - Item 2

    And numeric lists like this:

    1. This is my first item

    2. This is my second item

You can also add links to text, and when exported to HTML, Focused will create the appropriate HTML code for links:

Focused support all your favourite Markdown features (and will soon support more advanced items such as footnotes) - for more details on Markdown, visit the Markdown homepage.
